On our street, there’s a large house with too many cars parked in the front yard, and a dog or two who dutifully shout at you as you pass, in order to remind you who’s in charge around here. As I walked past it this afternoon, a large black limousine pulled up out front and deposited several well-dressed family members (I suppose), bearing gifts. A motorbike arrived soon after, belching into the driveway as an older man and his wife shuffled toward the house. »
some days you feel frozen by the future so many things to try and remember to do on monday that sunday becomes a blur of worry you find yourself lost in “what if?” land as you do the vacuuming and try to think of ways to spend your sunday “just like other people do” without leaving the house even going so far as to watch a DVD but the numbness »
i walked to the city from preston yesterday it started with no trams at the terminus which i eventually discovered stemmed from a car crash further down the line and they cleared it away just as I walked by but i was already moving by then and that inner feeling of momentum had to be fed somewhat more than this i stopped for breakfast and watched the first load of people »
staring at old maps again with a yellow fondness for a past that wasn’t mine but could’ve been i suppose somewhere out in the western suburbs listening to six o’clock rock as the car lurches around a corner under sodium light passing factories by. we could’ve been older wrestling with an entirely different set of issues wishing we were younger ’cause those kids have it so easy these days. tomorrow »
