cabin fever

i fell into a dream
on the other side of the world
waves lapped at my feet
the ocean called my name
while gulls wheeled overhead
you know how it is
then the power flipped off
loud beeps screamed
somewhere nearby
and i remembered where i was
cramped in a tiny floating room
trying not to trip over things
working on some bogus idea
and wondering if i’d ever see
my loved ones again.
